The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Divisional Supervisor to join our Engineering/Tech Services group in Thompson, Manitoba.
The role holder will provide direct supervision and leadership to the Mine Engineering team in Thompson, MB that will ensure the mine plans are based on sound engineering principles that meet or exceed all safety, production and cost requirements.
Additionally, as Divisional Supervisor, you will,
- Assist with the preparation of mining proposals for identified ore zones through all study phases to ensure future mine projects are appropriately scheduled and resourced as per the Life of Mine Plan.
- Provide ongoing technical support to meet the Mine annual plan and objectives, seek opportunities for continuous improvements, and lead or participate in implementation teams.
- Assist with the yearly Mine Operating Budget Process and contribute to cost improvement initiatives.
- Emphasize safety in all planning aspects, ensure safe conduct, proper identification of existing openings in development areas, post all safety notices, and promote the Safe Production program.
- Assist section coordinators with scheduling all mining activities to ensure timely execution and support uninterrupted production flow.
- Maintain Key Performance Indicator charts, provide monthly reports, support Operations and the Integrated Operation Schedule process (IOS), deliver underground services and prints daily, track data and KPI reports, and supervise the Mine Engineering technical group, identifying and coordinating required training for employees.
About You
Education:
- Technical Diploma in Mining or related discipline or,
- High School diploma with strong skills in math and computer usage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years Mine Technical Services experience is required.
- Underground mine design, mining engineering, scheduling, and high level of understanding of underground mining activities.
- Knowledge of engineering planning software (Deswik) is an asset.
- Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics is an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with spreadsheet manipulation in Excel.
