Position Purpose

Reporting to the SSC, Manager, Rental Operations, the District Rental Tech will support District 230 and 249 with both D78 sales and productivity by ensuring fleet is repaired and maintained, providing District engagement, and achieving operational excellence. A primary focus of the role is ensuring tools are repaired in a timely manner by supporting and providing guidance to in store tool techs.

Key Areas of Accountability:

• Travel to stores by partnering with Manager to determine highest priority stores. For remote locations the support will be completed virtually.

• Coach and provide guidance with Down Tools such as diagnosis and repairs of fleet equipment, processes and standards, and technical repair skills.

  • Mentor store technicians on Down Tool process expectations and ensure process is being followed
  • Coach and provide guidance to Rental Sales Associates and Tool Techs on how to turn and repair rental fleet
  • Provide expense repair details and cost breakdown
  • Ensure store is maintaining an appropriate inventory of consumable parts and supplies, while staying within budget
  • Follow up with vendors on part deliveries and load n go repairs
  • Adhere to Rental Standards and ensure Safety Standards are followed throughout the Tech Room and Rental Center
  • Complete tool repairs, including gas and electric powered when needed
  • Provide support coverage for Tool Tech absences
  • Provide District engagement and achieve to operational excellence
  • Provide weekly summaries and provide insights on Rental results to DM, SM, and store Rental leaders
  • Deliver on operational metrics
  • Support the TCSM with driving whole store Rental awareness and Pro engagement on Rental needs
  • Review damage protection attach rates and develop ways to increase results
  • Review Used Equipment list and support with merchandising strategies
  • Support and execute new programs or initiatives as required
  • Audit that parts have been ordered and detailed notes in Repair Depot are completed and accurate
  • Complete preventative Maintenance as needed, prioritizing in season tools and winterization
  • Support with store-to-store transfer of equipment

Experience / Knowledge Required:

  • Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and have satisfactory performance
  • The ability to diagnose and repair the rental fleet assortment and experience repairing tools & small engines
  • The ability to influence Rental Associates and Store Leaders
  • Passion and excitement to increase Rental sales and improve productivity
  • Flexible work shifts and may be required to work a rotating schedule including evenings and weekends and travel as necessary
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Rental Toolbox, Repair Depot and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both Leaders and Associates
  • Small Engine Mechanic Certificate preferred
  • DS experience preferred
  • Personal vehicle is required, mileage will be expensed
  • Bilingual in English and French is preferred
