SALARY RANGE: $78,000.00 - $85,000.00 CAD

LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland, Canada

TYPE OF RIG: Nordnes; Flexible Fallpipe Vessel

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract, Temporary

CONTRACT: Short Term Contract; Estimate One (1) Month

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: One (1)

JOB SUMMARY:

Ensure that the galley management, cleaning activities, and the preparation of the meals contributes to an optimum care for the crew in compliance with safety, maritime and environmental regulations at all times.

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ships Cook or Equivalent
  • At least One (1) year of Relevant Operational Experience in Professional Catering for groups.
  • Experience with Making Healthy and Varied Menus.
  • Creativity & Ingenuity
  • Cultural awareness
  • Flexibility / Ability to cope with stress
  • Personal effectiveness
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational:

  • Prepare all meals onboard whilst maintaining a healthy and varied diet.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and cleaning of galley and storerooms.
  • Supervision and management of vessels Hotel function in cabins and accommodation
  • Other duties as assigned.

Operational Supervision:

  • Instruct, organize, supervise, train and motivate assigned crew members, to ensure the assigned work is divided and executed in accordance with expectations (in terms of time, quality and output). Contribute to a positive working atmosphere and development of assigned crew members.

QHSE:

  • Maintain the safety and environmental regulations on the assigned equipment.
  • Make sure the Van Oord Management System, company policies as well as the standing instructions are executed.
  • Comply with all national, international and local maritime law and regulations as well as industry standards.
  • Report all incidents and near misses according to the company policy and engage during safety drills.

Communication:

  • Discuss with and advise the Master on performed duties and other issues that affect the Hotel function of the vessel.
  • Report as per catering company guidelines.

Administration:

  • Assist in administrative actions on the instruction of the Master.
  • Administration as per catering company guidelines including ordering and store/stock keeping
