Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with our client to recruit a Director of Construction & Facilities to serve in a key leadership role located in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Role Description:
As the Director of Construction & Facilities, you will play a pivotal leadership role in managing and optimizing our clients' construction and facility projects. You will also support the efficient functioning of the property portfolio while overseeing strategic planning to meet current and future needs through renovations and expansion. You will lead and collaborate with a skilled and dedicated team to provide direction in various areas, such as facilities and asset management, environment and energy solutions, capital projects, and new construction. You will contribute to the preparation of various budgets and financial reporting, including operational and organizational budgets, as well as capital spending.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Establish and oversee policies, practices, systems, and operations of all physical real estate;
- Oversee all aspects of new construction and capital projects, from planning to execution, ensuring adherence to the budget, timeline, safety, and quality standards;
- Manage the maintenance and improvement of our clients' facilities to support operational efficiency, which includes setting short, mid, and long-term targets, implementing initiatives, regularly reviewing results, and monitoring operational performance to ensure cost-effectiveness;
- Develop strategic and tactical plans to support and implement environmental sustainability initiatives while also developing metrics and reporting practices to monitor success;
- Identify and mitigate any potential risks associated with construction projects and facilities management;
- Participate in Strategic Planning discussions regarding long-term project planning and portfolio expansion;
- Oversee vendor and supplier negotiations in collaboration with the Procurement team.
Your Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you have extensive experience overseeing complex construction and capital projects. You are entrepreneurial and strategic, with the ability to manage in an environment of change and ambiguity. Action-oriented by nature, you ensure continuous improvement across the entire organization and are an inclusive leader with a track record of developing high-performing teams.

Your qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, business, or a related field is preferred;
- 10+ years of progressive experience in construction/project management or facilities management, ideally in roles that include supervision of project teams, maintenance and sustainability programs, and management of a significant budget;
- Active P.Eng designation would be considered a strong asset;
- In-depth knowledge of a variety of construction methods, as well as building envelope, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, security and fire protection systems;
- Previous experience making strategic decisions and managing a team to achieve the goals of the company regarding a portfolio of assets;
- Ability to lead with a strong service orientation by ensuring open and effective two-way communication between all teams and departments.
