Who we are:
The Village historique acadien is an open-air museum consisting of a 2.2 km trail, lined with some forty historical buildings, all animated by costumed interpreters who present the daily life of the Acadians from 1770 to 1949.
Since it opened in 1977, the Village offers many Acadian cultural experiences for the whole family. Ever evolving, this popular tourist site now has five restaurants and snack bars, one hotel as well as two boutiques. In full operation from June to September, the Village employs close to 200 people during the high tourist season.

What you will do:
Reporting to the Fields and Farm Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Feeding and taking the animals out morning and night
- Fetching cattle from pastures and moving them manually from farm to farm.
- Cleaning chicken coops and barns
- Being ready to help if any animals escape their enclosures
- Participating in historical demonstrations such as sheep shearing, cutting and baling hay, etc.
- Moving and storing hay bales
- Repairing and maintaining fences, chicken coops, roads, etc.
- Helping with garden preparation and maintenance
- Interpreting your trade when requested
- Operating a chainsaw for diverse circumstances
Who you are:
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Completion of grade 10
- Minimum of five (5) years of work experience which includes gardens, crop care and farm animals
- Knowledge of heritage crop varieties and animal breeds
- Knowledge and experience running both 19th century and modern farm machinery
- Chainsaw Operator Safety Training
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
Written and spoken competence in English and spoken competence in French is required. Please state your language capability.
Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.
Nice to have:
- Experience in performing similar tasks
Résumés should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment.
Wage:
$26.12 per hour
Work environment:
- Dressing in historical costume
- Ability to work in high heat conditions
- Applicant should have no fear of working with livestock
- This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks
- Hours of work: Monday to Sunday, including one weekend per month, forty (40) hours per week
