Purpose

The Strategic Portfolio Office (SPO) supports Global Transaction Banking (GTB), serving as a thought partner and strategic advisor. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Chief Operating Officer & Internal Controls, GTB, the role supports on the general management of GTB departmental priorities. The incumbent is responsible for the overall success of GTB ensuring specific goals, plans & initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives, ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures to maximize the impact and further GTB's strategic priorities.

What You'll Do:

  • Champion a high-performance environment and foster an inclusive work environment by communicating vision, values, and business strategy. Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Support GTB operations, financial analysis, planning, and reporting by working closely with Finance to manage the creation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including the annual plan and variance reports, both Capital Allocation and P&L.
  • Provide overall leadership for decision-making on major business initiatives, business case reviews and projects, in close collaboration with PMOs across the Bank. Developing management reports of key metrics for the leadership team, leading the activities and teams to make appropriate commitments through scope selection, deliverable prioritization while dealing with multiple deadlines, backlogs, and resolution of issues.
  • Manage the execution and results of key initiatives by project management and coordination of all aspects of projects including planning, scheduling, resources, risk assessment, cost/benefit analysis, time/cost estimates, tracking budgets/costs, reporting and a post-implementation review of project work. Maintain tracking/monitoring of GTB initiatives and report on progress. Reporting to Business Lines, CFOs and COOs – there will be regular interactions to provide updates on investment, execution and allocation.
  • Understands all aspects of GTB Financial Management and related P&L optimization: This includes responsibilities for Revenue & Expenses Forecasting & Planning. Lead discussions with business units' to ensure inbound and outbound expense allocations are justifiable and optimize GTB P&L.
  • Facilitate and provide oversight on: (i) investment prioritization (ii) business case review (iii) project governance, (iv) portfolio management to comply with the Bank's policies during and after project execution, while responsible for preparation of business case updates and approvals with OpCO and Bank's Board of Directors.
  • Partner with Finance and GTB management team to drive support of Business Line revenue and cost allocation approvals during fiscal planning processes.
  • Lead the execution and alignment of key bank-wide-enterprise initiatives, acting as a liaison between business lines and departments and represent the VP & COO, GTB or other GTB leaders on project teams or committees.
  • Partner with Marketing and Global Communications as it relates to the development, evolution, and execution of GTB marketing strategies.
  • Lead the internal business communication strategy development and tactical execution to ensure consistent and effective messaging to all internal stakeholders
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered, creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

What You'll Bring:

  • Business finance acumen and understanding of Bank's operating models for managing projects, capital allocation, P&L management including operating budgets.
  • PMP certification (or equivalent) and or excellent hands-on experience with end-to-end project management of multi-year complex technology projects
  • Working knowledge of Agile principles, cadences and processes
  • Strong project management knowledge including plan development, scheduling methodology, risk reporting, risk assessment, budgeting, financials and benefits management
  • Proficient in Spanish/French is an asset

Work Arrangement:

Work in a standard flexible office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence; some travel might be required both domestic and abroad.
