The Department of Justice & Public Safety is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Correctional Institutional Repair Worker at Southeast Regional Correctional Centre.
What you will do
Reporting to the Deputy Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing skilled work in several disciplines with respect to the operation, maintenance and repair of buildings as well as related building systems and equipment within a correctional institution.
The major responsibilities of the position are to perform general and preventative maintenance work in a correctional facility. Duties of the position may include but are not limited to: Performing minor maintenance and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment/systems, HVAC systems and locking systems; monitoring building management systems; maintaining records and inventory; repairing equipment; requisitioning supplies; estimating costs and performing other related duties as assigned.

Need to have (their essential skills and qualifications)
- Candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED;
- Possess a journeyperson's certificate in a trade as issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Act of the Province of New Brunswick;
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the building, electrical, plumbing and/or heating/refrigeration occupations, troubleshooting systems and performance of small repairs.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required, please state your language capability

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The following operational requirement is also required:
- Candidates must successfully complete a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) vulnerable sector reference check.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.
Wage
$2,605.60 biweekly
Stand-By Pay - An employee who is required by the Employer to be on standby on completion of their regular hours of work or while on regularly scheduled days off will be paid a premium of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour for all hours they are required to remain on standby.
Recognition and Retention Program
The recognition and retention program is based on the number of continuous years of service.
- Fifteen (15) years but less than twenty (20) years – 1.0%
- Twenty (20) years but less than twenty-five (25) – 2.0%
- Twenty-five (25) years – 3.0%
