POSITION: Recreation Programmer
STATUS: Term-Full-Time (six months)
JOB PURPOSE:
- Organizing, delivering, evaluating and monitoring the implementation of programs based on present needs of individuals, groups and facility.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication and documenting all relevant information with respect to resident's goals, participation and performance with the care team and family.
- Promoting and providing assistance to the social, spiritual and community programs.
- Advocating for the residents to ensure recreation programming needs are resident focused.
- Assisting in the development and distribution of the monthly Recreation calendar of events.
- Assisting with the resident dining process by assisting residents with meals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in Recreation (an acceptable combination of education and work experience may be considered).
- A "people person" who wants to make a difference in the lives of our residents and who is respectful of all people.
- Able to communicate in French and English (an asset).
- Experience in recreational programming in a Long-Term Care setting (an asset).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills (oral and written).
- Demonstrated leadership skills, personal initiative, sound judgment, as well as the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Proven ability to make timely decisions, multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
