INTRODUCTION:
The Senior Manager, AML and Regulatory, ScotiaMcLeod is responsible for driving AML program and regulatory initiatives in the execution, implementation, communication and monitoring of AML and Sanctions program policies, procedures, standards, business strategies, objectives and activities to reduce the risk of financial loss, damage to reputation, regulatory sanction and litigation, fines, and penalties for ScotiaMcLeod.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
In this role you will:
- De-market clients that pose an unacceptable AML or sanctions risk to The Bank including correspondence, follow-up, tracking and account closing.
- Monitor and mitigation of sanction risks including trading in Sanctioned securities.
- Act as the go-to SME for ScotiaMcLeod branches, operations and management, providing expert guidance and excellent support with respect to AML and Sanctions Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure the efficient and timely monitoring, managing and responding of the e-mail intake box specific to AML for National Supervision.
- Provide input regarding the effectiveness of existing policies/procedures, and/or recommendations for changes / improvements, taking into consideration ongoing regulatory developments.
- Maintain an awareness of legislative and regulatory initiatives, emerging trends and industry best practices and their potential impact on existing policies and procedures.
DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS
We'd love to work with you if you have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working in an AML or regulatory capacity or in a securities sector setting within a financial institution.
- CAMS or CFCS certification required
- Canadian Securities Course Preferred
- French is an asset
- Spanish is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage difficult conversations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to deal with pressing priorities deliverables and timelines.
- Highly motivated, innovative, and results-oriented individual with excellent analytical, written and communication skills, and strong risk management skills.
