Anglophone East School District is in search of a Health Support Services Officer will report to a Coordinator of Education Support Services as determined will be responsible for supporting the coordination of services for students with essential and complex health needs. This role will require a willingness of developing an understanding of the Anglophone East School Districts system of supporting identified students, public health principles within an educational environment, will require excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to work collaboratively with school district staff, school staff, parents, and healthcare providers. The â??Health Support Services Officerâ?? will work with care coordination teams to develop and implementation student health-related supports in school.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Subject to the response to the competition, education and experience requirements may be raised. All applicants must:

  1. Have an undergraduate degree in education, social work, nursing, public health, kinesiology or another related field
  2. Possess strong communication and leadership skills.
  3. Related experience can include working within a public school system, public or community health setting.
  4. At the employerâ??s discretion an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  5. Fluently bi-lingual (French and English) would be considered an asset

Key areas of responsibility:

  1. Work collaboratively with school level and local health care coordination teams.
  2. Stays current with provincial policies and programs that support student health and safety.
  3. Serves as a liaison to community health. The officer builds bridges, acts as a facilitator, and has strengths in the areas of collaboration, partnership-building, data collection, and advocating for the health, safety, and wellness of students and staff.
  4. Leads provides professional learning about student health-related processes when required to, school district and school staff, students, families, community organizations.
  5. When requested on behalf of the school district will engage all multiple stakeholders to support the connection between health and public education.
  6. Coordinates services with service providers regarding student district and school level health-related service needs.
  7. On behalf of the school district ensures that district and school staff receive the necessary training and information for the successful documentation requirements of all student health information as outlined by legislation, collective agreement, policy, and guidelines, etc.
  8. As directed, develops and implements professional development for all staff on matters concerning all necessary related policies, health practices and procedures.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will possess a class five (5) driver license, own their own vehicle and be required to travel to all schools with the school district.

Compensation:

The position is classified as Management and Non-Union

All benefits such as but not limited to health, medical, dental, and vacation benefits and outlined with the Management and non-union working conditions.

Salary, Pay Band 3, salary range $51,506 - $72.176 per annum.

Work Environment:

Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30, when required the employee may work outside of the standard the established hours.
