As the Senior Manager SSI Projects, you will be responsible for leading all projects and initiatives impacting operations for Scotia Securities Inc, the CIRO regulated mutual fund dealer within Canada, ensuring specific goals, plans, initiatives are executed & delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. You will ensure all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Lead and drive a client focused culture throughout your team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Be responsible and accountable for the execution, implementation, delivery and success of all projects internally within the SSI Operations team and in collaboration with other Retail and Wealth partners
  • Implement multiple projects often involving numerous internal and external stakeholders & monitor project milestones, financial delivery, resource availability, and issue management resolution as it relates to the status of remediation/costs/resolution dates
  • Understand business needs, document / map existing conditions, identify stakeholder / technology / data requirements, complete gaps assessments, propose solutions, execute assigned tasks and support cross-functional engagements, as necessary, to meet overall project objectives
  • Focus on process improvement and operational changes that will support SSI Operations and other business lines such as Retail Banking and enhance the overall effectiveness/revision of old processes
  • Understand departmental and client needs while collaborating with our business partners to focus on building strong relationships and encourage positive experiences
  • Continually develop methods to measure the success of a project/initiative through metrics, performance and improvement, while identifying and recommending opportunities to leverage, reuse and scale
  • Be responsible for resolution of findings resulting from Internal and External Audits as they apply to SSI Operations
  • Provide guidance in creating, documenting and implementing operational systems and procedures related to changes introduced through projects
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Create an environment in which your team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Build a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors, communicating vison/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 5+ years' project management/operations experience
  • A University degree in Business Administration or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory guidelines for Mutual Funds distribution including sales, reporting and tax filing functions would be preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong skills in Excel
  • The ability to become familiar with system platforms quickly
  • An elevated level of collaboration skills
  • Self-motivation with an ability to work independently and with minimal direction
  • Effective communication skills (verbal/written/presentation)
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, and handle multiple projects/initiatives all within tight deadlines
