FACULTY OF SCIENCE
The Faculty of Science comprises five departments that regularly do independent outreach activities with elementary, middle, and high schools in the province to promote STEM disciplines and attract students to UNB. Our faculty also collaborates with local, regional and national organizations such as Science East, Let's Talk Science and Youth Science Canada (e.g. Canada Wide Science Fair). The faculty actively participates in several national and local programs, such as Shad, EdGeo, Worlds UNBound, and the Physics Olympics. We also host facilities such as the Quartermain Earth Science Centre, the historical William Brydone Jack Observatory, the physics astronomical observatory, research greenhouses, etc. These facilities are excellent resources for educational and outreach activities.

Salary Range: $44,904 - $56,128 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Assistant Deans of Science, the Outreach Coordinator coordinates activities across the entire Faculty of Science, including designing and participating in outreach activities, employing evidence-based practices. This position is expected to keep up to date with research and relevant practices in the field.
- Coordinate, design and participate in outreach activities across the Faculty of Science.
- Pursue outreach activities to engage the public, teachers, and students.
- Catalogue and coordinate regular and ad hoc outreach activities.
- Promote the faculty outreach activities through social media platforms and the website.
- Stay current on research and evidence-based practices in outreach.
- Liaise with schools and their staff across New Brunswick.
- Create and maintain working relationships with the public and other organizations.
- Keep records for faculty research into outreach activities and help support such research.
- Write grant applications for outreach and educational initiatives.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in science, applied science or a closely related field.
Additional Strengths
- Experience in a learning environment, outreach or a related field would be an asset.
- Experience writing grant applications would be an asset.
- Ability to write and speak French would be an asset.
- Ability to engage and inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to collaborate in diverse teams.
- Adaptability and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Comfort with technology, such as word processing software.
