Job Summary
The Social Worker is a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team and is responsible for the delivery of Social Work services to an assigned number of Residents/Families at the Carbonear General Hospital/Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion/Placentia Health Centre. The position works in collaboration with all members of the Interdisciplinary Care Team to achieve operational and resident-centered care objectives. The Social Worker I will consult with the Social Worker II's on service issues while maintaining a reporting structure directly to the Regional Manager of Allied Health Services Eastern Zone. They will be required to provide field supervision to Social Work students. This position maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Social Work for integrity and professional practice issues.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with an accredited Bachelor of Social Work Degree is required.
Current and continuing registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW) is required.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including but not limited to, Mental Health Care and Treatment Act, Adult Protection Act, Advanced Health Care Directives Act, Medical Assistance in Dying, and the Children, Youth and Families Act.
Knowledge of community resources, systems and programs.
Demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and mentor students.
Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment and interventions with individuals, families and groups.
Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional environment, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Conditions of employment include the use of a private vehicle.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
