Reporting to the Food Operations Manager or designate, the primary purpose of this positionis to prepare, assemble and serve meals for patients/residents/customers and to perform
tasks related to food service.
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalency;
? Experience in preparing or serving food;
? Ability to learn and apply food values and therapeutic diets;
? Ability to take directions and learn techniques involved in the safe use and care of
food service equipment and kitchen utensils;
? Ability to learn and apply safe food handling procedures/practices;
? Ability to organize daily tasks while managing competing demands on time;
? Ability to maneuver heavy carts throughout the hospital/home;
? The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties (Included but not limited to):
? Prepare or serve beverages, snacks and meals for patients/residents/customers
including, but not limited to, preparing ingredients, special dietary food items and
main menu items
? Review patient/resident diet list/info and prepare individual meal trays & snacks in
keeping with the therapeutic diets ordered
? Assemble meal trays/serve meals for residents/patients/customers including catering
to functions within the organization
? Distribute and collect meal trays to and from floors
? Scrape and clean dishes and food carts. Operate and clean dish machine and other
related equipment
? Clean/sanitize work areas, equipment and trolleys
? Fill food supply requisitions for hospital and/or LTC departments
? May stock groceries on shelves and refrigerators, inspect goods and rotate stock
? Operate cash register as required
? Maintain general sanitation and cleanliness of department
? Maintain high standard of personal hygiene and follow all departmental
policies/procedures pertaining to food safety and sanitation;
