Position Overview
The Assistant Provost for Academic Quality and Strategic Enhancement will lead the newly established Office of Academic Quality and Strategic Enhancement (OAQSE) and work closely with academic leaders across the university. This leadership role ensures UFred's commitment to academic excellence, accreditation, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Provost, the Assistant Provost will oversee institutional and program accreditation processes and foster a culture of strategic enhancement through data-driven decision-making.
The Assistant Provost will lead and develop a team of staff dedicated to supporting accreditation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives. They will foster collaboration with key partners both within and outside the university to create a seamless and integrated framework for academic quality assurance and enhancement. This role requires strong leadership skills to guide staff, facilitate cross-institution cooperation, and align various stakeholders towards common quality and improvement goals. By fostering a culture of excellence and strategic thinking, the Assistant Provost will play a crucial role in advancing UFred's academic mission and institutional effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Quality Assurance and Accreditation
- Leadership in Accreditation: Lead institutional and program accreditation processes, ensuring full compliance with relevant standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Quality Assurance Mechanisms: Develop and implement robust quality assurance procedures for all academic programs, establishing clear mandates, timelines, and responsibilities for stakeholders.
- Reporting and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and submission of accreditation reports to government bodies and accrediting agencies.
Strategic Enhancement and Continuous Improvement
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Foster a culture of strategic enhancement by implementing data-informed approaches that drive academic quality and program excellence.
- Program Review and Renewal: Establish and oversee continuous program review processes, incorporating feedback loops and evidence-based strategies for ongoing improvement.
- Long-Term Strategic Planning: Develop a comprehensive strategy for academic quality improvement and accreditation excellence, aligning initiatives with UFred's long-term goals.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Office Establishment and Team Development: Establish and lead the Office of Academic Quality and Strategic Enhancement in collaboration with the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, managing and mentoring a dedicated team.
- Cross-Institutional Collaboration: Work closely with academic leaders and key internal and external partners to foster a seamless and integrated framework for academic quality assurance and enhancement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate effective collaboration and communication across departments to align diverse stakeholders with common quality and improvement goals.
Data Management and Institutional Effectiveness
- Integrated Data Systems: Develop structured processes for collecting, managing, and analyzing data to support accreditation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Align data practices with accreditation requirements, conduct regular audits to identify compliance risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Evidence-Based Reporting: Ensure that data collection and analysis provide actionable insights for periodic reviews and strategic decision-making.
Education
- A PhD or terminal degree with experience in facilitating continuous improvement is required.
- Alternatively, a Master's degree with extensive, relevant experience in Quality Assurance and Strategic Enhancement may suffice.
Experience
- Proven track record in academic quality assurance, accreditation processes, and strategic enhancement within higher education.
- Demonstrated success in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
- Experience in managing and developing teams dedicated to accreditation and quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong background in creating and implementing integrated frameworks for academic quality assurance.
- Successful collaboration with academic leaders and key institutional partners to advance quality initiatives.

Hours of Work
This is a fulltime permanent position (35 hours) under regular business hours -- 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Location Requirement
The Assistant Provost for Academic Quality and Strategic Enhancement must reside in New Brunswick and may work remotely. However, they must be available to attend the Fredericton office weekly and as requested
