Overview

On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a Director of Sales to join their team at their office location in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Sales is responsible for all aspects of the company's sales strategy and operations. This includes establishing and executing sales strategies, identifying new business opportunities, and fostering relationships to drive revenue growth. The Director of Sales will ensure the company's sales targets align with long-term strategic objectives, while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. This leadership role requires an individual who is both dynamic and hands-on with a strong track record in sales leadership, a deep understanding of market trends, and exceptional interpersonal skills to develop lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the overall sales strategy, aligning with company objectives and market opportunities.
  • Ensure effective sales processes, methodologies, and tools are in place to drive team success.
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor the sales team. Provide guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Continuously assess and improve the skills of the sales team by organizing training sessions, workshops, and knowledge sharing.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, expand market presence, and drive revenue by creating and nurturing strong relationships with potential clients and partners.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, analyze performance metrics, and report on sales performance to executive leadership. Utilize data to optimize sales strategies and drive results.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions to meet those needs. Serve as the primary point of escalation for client issues.
  • Work closely with marketing, product, and customer success teams to ensure alignment in messaging, product offerings, and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions. Use this information to inform sales strategy and stay ahead of market demands.
  • Manage the sales budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve sales goals while maintaining profitability.
  • Work with account managers on the creation and submission of requests for proposals (RFPs) from potential partners and clients, ensuring timely and thorough responses.
  • Travel to meet with clients, visit vendor locations, and attend industry events as required.
  • Perform other tasks as required to support the sales function.

Technical and Non-Technical Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a team.
  • Strong understanding of sales strategies, business development, and market expansion.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with both internal teams and external clients.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with experience in data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and emerging sales techniques.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in sales, with at least three years in a leadership or management role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key players in the satellite or telecommunications industry.
  • Experience working within satellite, telecommunication, environment and/or IoT industries.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving sales growth and achieving revenue targets.
  • In-depth knowledge of CRM software, sales automation tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
