Department: Recreation Therapy - Shoreham Village

Responsible To: Manager of Recreation Therapy

Responsibilities:

• Participates in the implementation of recreational therapy programs that are based on the needs, interests, and capabilities of residents
• Assists staff with creating new and innovative programming
• Assist staff with additional special projects and /or minor administrative tasks
• Understands and works within the Recreation Therapy service and department goals and objectives outlined in the Recreation Therapy Operational Plan
• Develops and maintains relationships with resident family members
• Ensure Shoreham Village policies and procedures are maintained to ensure the safety of self and others
• Assist with the daily operations of the recreation department
• Assist in ensuring there are adequate recreation supplies
• Cleans and checks all equipment, reporting all necessary repairs to the Manager of Recreation
• Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications:

• Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year - Fall 2025.
• Must have CPR and First Aid course & WHMIS or be willing to obtain.
• Must have strong communication; both oral and written
• Must be creative, self-motivated, flexible and reliable
• Must have strong interpersonal; working with an interdisciplinary team
• Must be able to attend in-service programs while on duty as required.
• Must be able to lift/move up to 30 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and do frequent bending, lifting and reaching.
• Must have a clean criminal police check.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are required.

Hours of Work: 70 hours bi-weekly (7 hour shifts)

Start Date: May 26th 2025

(Please note: This is a summer student position. Must be going to secondary school in Fall 2025 between ages 18-30, legally eligible to work in Canada, Canadian Citizenship)
