Position Description
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Project Manager, Women's Leadership will be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of two initiatives: the ENGAGE Women's Leadership and Active Citizen Project funded by Global Affairs Canada (2019-2026), and the Women's Leadership Trust, which is funded by a number of individual donors to support activities that promote women's leadership and gender equality.
The Project Manager will apply principles of good partnership and collegial management to ensure the collaborative nature of Coady's partnerships in this area (including partner organizations in India, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Haiti, as well as other partnerships that are developed).
For the ENGAGE project, the Project Manager will manage project operations with the guidance of the Executive Director, and the project Steering Committee. This will be done in keeping with the Contribution Agreement with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the associated Terms and Conditions, the Partnership Agreements with the three implementing agencies, the Project Implementation Plan (PIP) and annual work plans and budgets as negotiated with partners and approved by GAC. The Project Manager will engage program, finance and administrative staff in the planning, management and accountability components of the project. The Project Manager will also act as a liaison with the designated GAC Program Manager, ensuring effective working relations in all matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage current activities and eventual closure of the ENGAGE project, including leading the final review of the project implementation plan
- Work in close consultation with the Manager of Finance, Coady Institute, to ensure project and financial systems, policies, and practices are applied and provide controls and accountability
- In collaboration with partners, build working relationships for project management that are rooted in the values of partnership and respect
- provide specific technical supports that may be identified to project partners and team members where needed around gender equality, women's leadership and feminist practices
- Contribute to the design and development of new or continuing projects and programs which advance goals outlined for gender equality in the Coady strategic plan.
- Manage activity planning, implementation and accountability activities within GAC guidelines, applying standards, meeting timelines and ensuring compliance, consistent with the ENGAGE Project Management framework.
- Design and oversee specific forums which highlight the learning, innovations and results of the ENGAGE project and other Women's Leadership initiatives, working with the Coady communications team
- In collaboration with Coady and partner staff, ensure the design and application of tools and systems that capture and process the information required for results-based reporting, organizational learning and knowledge dissemination.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will possess at minimum a Master's degree in a relevant area.
- Minimum of five to seven years of related experience is required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint are essential.
- This position may require a flexible work week during peak periods.
- The ability to work well with others, both internally and externally, from a wide variety of backgrounds in a professional environment.
