The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Planner/Scheduler Specialist to join our North Atlantic Project team in Sudbury.
This is a permanent hybrid position, working 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.
As a Planner/Scheduler Specialist you will provide expertise to capital projects within the global Base Metals business. Your skills and experience will allow you to act as a key representative of the North Atlantic Project Group in this discipline and to be responsible for Governance over all capital projects (throughout the FEL stages and execution) and project services personnel.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Ensure consistency and oversight in the project planning and scheduling approach on all capital projects (Base Metals wide).
- Responsible for reviewing the projects schedules, and ensure they are realistic project plan and schedule to meet the project objectives.
- Responsible for ensuring that all standard procedures and systems for project planning and scheduling are followed, per Vale Project Management Model (currently SPE), and any available best practice (14-DCMA, Acumen Fuse indices).
- Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the planning and scheduling functions across all work locations and ensuring the schedules are integrated into one master schedule.
- Performance review, analysis, and reporting (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and annually), Analyze variance from baseline and recommend corrective actions including Earned Value (EV) analysis
- Oversee and support schedule 5D integration process with the 3D model and cost and report the outputs which includes cash flow and sequence simulations.
- Forecast the requirement of various resources including labor, materials, and equipment over the project based on work front's analysis
- Oversee and support project change management, including contractor EOT claims, forensic analysis, change requests, and dispute resolution.
About You
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business or Management required.
- PMP designation is mandatory.
- PMI-Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) or AACEI – Project Scheduling Professional is an asset.
- P. Eng. designation is an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in similar subject area.
Skills:
- Proficient use of Primavera P6, Acumen Fuse, MS Project, SAP, MS Office, Power BI, and Aconex.
- Experience and knowledge of mining & construction processes and procedures and international projects as asset.
- Ability to develop and manage relationships with a diverse range of professionals in a mining & construction atmosphere.
- Good understanding of PMI Practice Standard of Scheduling.
- Good understanding of Earned Value Management to ensure that the projects apply proper methodologies for measuring and reporting project progress and performance metrics.
