The role - Senior Manager, Finance & Analytics - at Scotia Global Asset Management will be responsible for Financial planning and analysis – including (and not limited to), lead simplification of business insights, and lead operational efficiency priorities for the team. The role blends financial leadership, advanced data analytics and business intelligence to support decision-making and drive operational efficiency and improve productivity. The Ideal candidate will play a critical role in financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and business insights, leveraging tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, and automation technologies to optimize processes and enhance reporting. The role will leads the financial planning team in Scotia Global Asset Management ensuring business strategies, business plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

Strategic Leadership and Vision:
- Leads and drives a client focused culture on the team to deepen client relationships through leveraging broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge to execute on Scotia GAM's strategy
- Sustain strategic relationships and develop alliances with key stakeholders (business lines, executive management) to deliver on the mandate and provide value-added analysis and insights.
- Build and reinforce effective partnerships and collaboration within Scotia GAM, the Finance Community and across the Bank.
Developing & Coaching Talent
- Provide strong leadership to Finance team by providing strong leadership, clear and open communication, setting expectations and accountabilities, and providing opportunities for development
- Ensuring expectations including accountabilities, objectives and goals are effectively negotiated, communicated and monitored for team
- Ensuring employee development plans are in place and completing semi-annual and annual performance reviews for all direct reports
- Ensuring there is fair and equitable treatment of employees in keeping with the bank's guidelines and principles
- Creating and encouraging open lines of communication for all staff to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.
- Lead problem solving sessions for team to promote critical thinking culture on team.
- Coach Managers and Seniors to problem solve effectively to improve efficiency on team.
Automation & Process Optimization
- Lead process automation efforts to improve efficiency in financial forecasting, reporting, and budgeting
- Optimize financial Power BI dashboards and develop scalable data models
- Support the continuous improvement of the finance reporting ecosystem
- Evaluate policies and processes and provide leadership on team to improve operational efficiencies.
- Lead in developing, and actively champion departmental and corporate goals to deliver efficient analysis and timely information to internal customers.
- Supports the Director in the information gathering process and analysis for strategic and tactical projects and ad-hoc requests by Senior management
Data Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Analyze and Interpret Data: Conduct in-depth analysis of data from various sources, including databases, data warehouses, and external feeds, to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Investigate and resolve data-related issues, working with technical teams to implement fixes.
- Extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources, including the enterprise data hub
- Ensure data integrity, governance, and structure to support accurate and reliable analytics
- Reporting and Visualization: Create clear, concise, and informative reports and dashboards to communicate data insights and key metrics to stakeholders. Use data visualization tools to present findings effectively.
- Utilize Power BI, Alteryx and automation tools to develop dashboards and improve reporting efficiency
- Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and other team members inside Scotia GAM to understand data requirements and implement data solutions. Participate in cross-functional projects as a data expert. Provide training and support to business users on data access, reporting, and data quality tools.
- Identify trends in investment products, industry data (IFIC statistics, market share etc) and internal financial performance
Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting
- Prepare and deliver reports on business line/product-level financial performance with actionable insights
- Partner with business leaders and finance teams to align financial strategy with business objectives
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent with a focus in Data Analytics and AI
- University undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce or other data analytic related field;
- CFA enrollment is an asset
- CPA / CMA designation an asset
- Other certifications in programming languages such as Python, SQL or other equivalent.)
- Broad knowledge of Bank's asset management products and services
- 7+ years of experience in financial planning, business analysis, or data analytics roles.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, asset management, and investment products
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
- Strong knowledge of the securities and financial services industry (ie investment funds industry)
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
- 1 + years of experience with data management tools and various query and processing languages (SQL, Python, ETL)
- 2 + years with data analytics and visualization tools (Power BI, Looker, etc )
- Expert level proficiency in Power BI, SQL and Excel (Power Query, DAX, VBA)
- Understanding of data visualization best practices, and automation
- Experience with Alteryx or other analytics tools is an assets
- Highly detailed-oriented, with the ability to work under own initiative
- Strong ability to translate financial data into strategic insights for non financial stakeholders
- Ability to build strong business relationships and drive collaboration across functions
