The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking an individual to fill the position of Coordinator in certification with the Policy, Strategic Planning & Project Management Office division in Fredericton.
What you will do:
Reporting to the Registrar, the successful candidate will be responsible for the entire certification process for internationally educated Francophone teachers.
This person will primarily be responsible for reviewing applications, making certification decisions and assisting candidates who need additional training to obtain certification.
- Reviewing certification requirements for the teaching profession in various countries, determining their compatibility with New Brunswick requirements and making recommendations to the Registrar.
- Participating in the development of guides, forms and documentation for internationally educated teachers.
- Giving presentations on the certification process at international recruitment events and job fairs.
- Reviewing certification applications from internationally educated candidates using evaluation reports and a standardized assessment grid.
- Coordinating the certification of internationally educated applicants who apply under the Canadian labour mobility agreement (Canadian Free Trade Agreement).
- Suggesting avenues to qualification (courses, practicums or other means) to candidates whose applications for certification have been rejected.
- Coordinating applications for interim certificates from teachers recruited by school districts (Policy 612).
- Guiding candidates in their efforts to meet all interim certificate requirements (courses, practicums or other qualifications).
- Reviewing requests for partial exemptions from practicum requirements and approving alternative measures.
- Aiding candidates requiring additional assistance to become eligible for interim certification.

- Can clearly explain the requirements for and steps involved in obtaining certification.

- Are highly organized and able to multitask.
- Have good time management skills and can meet deadlines.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Two (2) years of post-secondary education in administrative techniques, business administration or a related field AND a minimum of (4) four years of related experience demonstrating standard administrative support practices and procedures. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Excellent written and oral proficiency in French: Level 4 (superior) or 3+ (advanced plus) on the Oral Language Proficiency Scale (gnb.ca).
Written and spoken competence in French is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage:
ASL 4: 1,816 $ – 2,205 $ bi-weekly.
Work environment:
- Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton.
- Possibility of remote work within New Brunswick.
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.
