The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Production to join our team in the Precious Metal Refinery Department based in Port Colborne, Ontario.
This is a permanent position, working 7-day rotating schedule on 12-hour shifts.
As a Supervisor, Production, you will be accountable for meeting the production goals along with the objectives of the work area in safety, reliability, efficiency, and quality. You will be accountable to return a process under control when required and maintain the process within the established limits. You will also be tasked with identifying variances and take action to address issues or take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Ensure all team members prioritize their health and safety responsibilities and comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Commit to continuous improvement in Occupational Health and Safety performance.
- Hold the crew accountable for safety behavior, teamwork, and professionalism.
- Supervise production within established policies, procedures, and budget guidelines.
- Execute assigned tasks from the Superintendent to meet deadlines and desired outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with peers and support groups to achieve exceptional results.
- Uphold Vale's Safety Policies and Government Regulations, exemplifying a strong emphasis on safety and risk management.
- Demonstrate effective communication, responsibility, and transparency in all interactions.
About You
Education:
- Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required.
- A College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience in hydrometallurgy is required.
- Experience supervising and leading teams with best work practices is preferred.
- Familiarity with refinery environments is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and SAP is an asset.
Skills:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
- Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
