The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Site Financial Controller to join our Finance team in Sudbury. This is a permanent onsite position. Relocation will be required for this role. The work schedule is Monday to Friday. As a Site Financial Controller, you will manage the financial operations of a specific site (plant or mine). By partnering with the Plant/Mine Manager, this role helps manage the financial health of the operation, optimizes profitability, and engages in strategic decision-making through detailed financial analysis and planning, holding the plant accountable to their fiscal targets. Additionally, in this position you will:
- Member of the Leadership Team: Actively participate as a member of the Leadership Team, identifying strategic value opportunities. (Business plan optimizations)
- Financial Management: Overseeing the accuracy and timeliness of financial data to reflect the plant's financial health, delivering actionable insights.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Strategically overseeing the preparation and management of budgets, financial forecasts, and cost control processes to ensure optimal alignment of financial resources with the organization's strategic goals.
- Strategic Planning: Providing financial insights for investment decisions, mine expansions, and long-term business planning. (Production, Human Resource, and Financial Planning)
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth to the Finance team. Cultivate a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the department.
- Work closely with operations, procurement, and contract management to ensure financial strategy aligns with operational objectives (Commercial Liaison Lead).
- Independent initiative to improve processes that impact business health (Value optimization).
About You Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Chartered Professional accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years' relative experience required.
- Strong decision-making and leadership skills, with the ability to influence management, hold stakeholders accountable, and lead financial teams effectively.
- Proven experience in managing within unionized environments and maintaining professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Expertise in analyzing complex financial situations, making informed decisions, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, financial regulations, and strong budgeting and financial forecasting capabilities.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and spreadsheet tools, with experience extracting, analyzing, and manipulating data to drive actionable insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to monitor financial performance while troubleshooting issues.
