The Role
Contributes to the overall success of the Canadian Banking Communications team, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Champions a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Supports strategic communications for the Canadian Retail Bank, which includes the Canadian Branch Network and Client Experience Centres, and the Executive Vice President, Canadian Retail Distribution.
- This individual will be expected to write high-impact content while working closely with key partners and the broader Global Corporate Affairs team to share best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and vendors and fostering long-term collaborations.
- Drives the creative development and execution of high impact, engaging content including:
- Supporting internal and external communications for the Canadian Retail Distribution leadership team, including business line and corporate initiatives, industry topics and other thought-leadership opportunities;
- Managing with editorial calendars and content rollouts;
- Working with the Creative Studio to develop multimedia and graphics in support of communications strategies;
- Collaborate within the Canadian Banking / Enterprise Communications and broader Global Corporate Affairs teams to contribute to strong internal and external brand identity.
- Supports the development and execution of external PR campaigns for the Canadian Banking business, which includes the development and issuing of press releases, proactive media outreach and preparing spokespeople for media opportunities.
- Supports the logistics and production of internal events in support of the business (i.e. town halls, conferences) and strategic planning activities to support the Canadian Retail Banking leadership team as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community management and support for internal employee engagement platforms.
- Supports the issues management process and media relations for the Canadian Retail Bank.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed??- We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Communications, experience in a financial services environment is an asset.
- Experience in developing Communications and Change Management strategies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to plan and create effective print and online content.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to plan and create effective, engaging content.
- Strong interest in communicating and driving strategy through effective communication and employee engagement tactics.
- Strong strategic thinking skills and financial acumen, with excellent attention to detail, and high-level accountability for the quality and timely completion of projects.

- Strong ability to create enthusiasm and foster a positive team environment.
Working Conditions:
- The environment is fast-paced, complex and demanding.
- Overtime hours including evenings and weekends may be required on limited or no notice to meet business demands and time-critical executive requests.
- Significant pressure may be experienced, due to tight deadlines and unanticipated executive requests.
