The Director supervises a team of adjudicators focusing on clients throughout Canada. You will contribute to the profitable growth and quality of the Bank's Commercial Agriculture Credit segment, ensuring the assigned portfolio is efficiently maintained at an acceptable level of risk.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Provide objective oversight and effective challenge, enable capital optimization, ensure ongoing monitoring, and partner with business lines to develop an effective strategy.
  • Adjudicate credit requests up to assigned limits; make sound recommendations on larger and/or problem loans within the Bank risk appetite and in adherence to our policy and standards.
  • Champion efficiencies while understanding the economic, political, and regulatory landscape.
  • Ensure maintenance of assigned portfolio quality by monitoring trends in risk rating migration, impaired loan formations, overdue reporting, and annual reviews.
  • Proactively address problems and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Supervise team members and drive team efficiency as reflected in minimal turnaround times, staffing levels, etc.
  • Provide direct reports with coaching and guidance on credit matters when required.
  • Manage the partnership with Banking. Liaise with business partners to maintain open communication ensuring excellent service levels are achieved for all internal customers.
  • Contribute to the development of the Bank's commercial human resources by identifying training needs and ensuring that individual coaching and group coaching is provided in a timely basis.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary education completed.
  • Experience leading and coaching a team to success.
  • Thorough understanding of Commercial Banking, credit policies, and procedures.
  • Skills in financial analysis and accounting, risk assessment, and developing creative financing proposals demonstrating sound credit judgment.
  • Expert understanding of security documentation and legal ramifications is necessary.
  • Strong leadership skills as demonstrated by the management of a team of adjudicators.
  • Understanding of the agriculture industry is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to converse effectively with line and corporate personnel.
  • Ability to make decisions, frequently in the face of uncertainty, and clearly communicate rationale for decisions.
