ATLANTIC PROVINCES HARNESS RACING COMMISSION is seeking a Director of Racing. The Director of Racing is responsible for the governance and regulation of six pari-mutuel harness racing tracks:

Connell Park in Woodstock, New Brunswick

Inverness Raceway in Inverness, Nova Scotia

Northside Downs in North Sydney, Nova Scotia

Truro Raceway in Truro, Nova Scotia

Red Shores Summerside in Prince Edward Island

Red Shores Charlottetown in Prince Edward Island

The offices for the APHRC are in Kensington, Prince Edward Island.

Job Description

Director of Racing Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission

The successful applicant shall:

Possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Harness Racing Industry

Have knowledge and experience in the application of administrative law and procedure as it pertains to the harness racing industry

Demonstrate experience in establishing and nourishing strong partnerships with industry partners including but not limited to racetracks, CPMA, and representative organizations of horse people

Fulfill the requirements of the Director of Racing as outlined in the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission Act and the Rules of Standardbred Harness Racing as adopted by the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission.

Direct all administrative and enforcement operations in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and procedures.

Implement policies and procedures as directed by the Commissioners of the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission.

Prepare policy documents, procedural documents, strategic planning documents and budgetary documents for the consideration of the Commissioners of the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission.

Always conduct themselves in a manner that is professional and reflects well on the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission.
