(Three- Year Contractual Position)
DUTIES
Reporting to the Associate Dean (Research and Graduate) (ADRS) and the Dean of Science, and working closely with faculty, the Grants Facilitation Officer will have administrative responsibilities associated with research funding activities within the Faculty of Science. Duties include assisting faculty with research planning, development, review, and processing of quality research funding applications; providing structural and content advice or recommendations for faculty consideration on research applications (based on program objectives, policies or guidelines, evaluation criteria, and requirements of the research funding agency and Memorial); working one-on-one with faculty to develop strategically optimal research portfolios and application timelines; contributing to the development of faculty administration policies and procedures; designing (collaboratively with AORS), implementing, and managing processes or procedures for the review and submitting major Tri-Agency grant competitions; preparing and delivering information bulletins and workshops on submitting successful NSERC grant applications; assisting faculty in identifying or targeting funding opportunities; consulting with local, provincial, and federal granting agencies to clarify application requirements, sponsor terms and conditions, and seeking, where feasible, informal feedback on applications to determine program fit for industry partnership applications; maintaining up-to-date program information and communicating changes, targeted opportunities, and internal deadlines to faculty; tracking application submissions or outcomes and generating statistical reports; liaising with funding agencies and local industry associations, companies, and colleague facilitators to plan and promote academic or industry research collaboration events; liaising with Research Initiatives and Services (RIS), CREAIT, and CRC and CFI Services (CCCS), as needed, to facilitate the submission of research funding applications and acceptance of research agreements; participating in various Faculty of Science initiatives such as the SEA conference, monthly lunch and learn series, and NSERC and SURA fellowships; contributing to research initiatives in the Faculty; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in research administration in a post-secondary environment; graduation with a master's degree in science is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter, with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of, and experience with, research application critique methods is required. strong computer skills; and the ability to function effectively under pressure in a diverse academic or research community are essential for this role. The successful applicant will have excellent organizational and time-management skills; strong attention to detail; and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of university and funding agency research policies, as well as research experience will be assets.
SALARY $64,361 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
