OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

We are seeking a Healthcare Consultant with expertise in FHIR APIs, Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), and the eHealth ecosystem to support our client's healthcare technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will play a key role in integrating healthcare systems, optimizing patient records management, and ensuring compliance with provincial reporting and analytics requirements.

This opportunity is open to both full-time salaried employees and independent contractors.

WHAT YOU LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

  • Provide expertise on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) APIs and facilitate seamless EMR integration with healthcare applications.
  • Work with clinical and technical teams to define data interoperability requirements.
  • Support the design and implementation of digital health solutions across healthcare organizations.
  • Ensure efficient patient record exchange while maintaining compliance with privacy and security regulations.
  • Leverage platforms like Ocean by CognisantMD for digital patient engagement and data collection.
  • Support data-driven decision-making by improving analytics frameworks for health data reporting.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare consulting, digital health, or health IT.
  • Strong knowledge of FHIR APIs, HL7 standards, and EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, OSCAR, or similar).
  • Experience working with eHealth solutions, patient portals, and digital health tools like Ocean by CognisantMD.
  • Familiarity with provincial healthcare regulations, reporting requirements, and data analytics frameworks.
  • Understanding of privacy and security standards (PHIPA, PIPEDA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including clinicians, IT specialists, and policymakers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on improving healthcare outcomes.
  • Previous work in health system transformation and interoperability initiatives.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with JIRA for project and task management.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, particularly in a healthcare or referral management context.
