We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager of Security Exceptions and Reporting to lead the development, implementation, and management of our security exception process and reporting framework. This critical role will ensure that security exceptions are managed effectively, risks are mitigated, and comprehensive reporting provides actionable insights to leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of security principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance, coupled with excellent analytical and communication skills.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust security exception process, including clear guidelines, workflows, and escalation procedures.

  • Oversee the review and approval of security exception requests, ensuring thorough risk assessments and appropriate mitigations.

  • Track and monitor security exceptions throughout their lifecycle, ensuring timely remediation and closure.

  • Maintain accurate records of security exceptions, including justifications, approvals, and remediation plans.

  • Design and develop comprehensive security reporting metrics and dashboards to provide visibility into security operational posture and trends.

  • Produce reports to prove compliance with various regulatory requirements.

  • Automate reporting processes where possible to increase efficiency and accuracy.

  • Generate regular reports on operational metrics and security exceptions for leadership and stakeholders.

  • Lead and mentor a team of security analysts and specialists.

  • Partner with IT, engineering, and other departments to ensure effective security controls and processes.

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices.

  • Conduct regular reviews of security policies and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and effective.

  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in information security, with at least 3 to 5 years in a managerial role.

  • Strong understanding of security risk management and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience with security exception management and reporting.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of automation and scripting languages.

  • Experience with project management methodologies.

  • Experience in the financial services industry.
