Job Overview

As an Access Control Officer, you will be working as the main Security detail for Halifax Stanfield International Airport. You will play a critical role in maintaining airport security. You will ensure the safety and security of all passengers, workers, and flight personnel by monitoring the Primary Security Line (PSL) at various gates and access points. You will ensure that only authorized individuals have access to the restricted areas beyond the PSL.

Site Description: Halifax Stanfield is Atlantic Canada's principal full-service airport providing passengers and cargo clients with direct access to markets across Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean Basin, Europe, and Asia. Halifax Stanfield offers Canada Customs services on a 24-hour, seven day a week basis, and it's the only airport in Atlantic Canada with U.S. preclearance and International to Domestic processing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce access restrictions at security checkpoints.
• 24/7 monitoring the terminal areas, perimeter for safety concerns, and suspicious behaviors.
• Ensure all tenants and guests are adhering to the regulations laid out by Transport Canada.
• Perform regular patrols of airport facilities to ensure security and safety measures are upheld.
• Conduct routine safety checks throughout the property.
• Respond to emergency situations and acting as incident commander until relieved by first responders is a crucial responsibility associated with this position.
• Detect, respond, and manage emergencies as directed by the Security Operations Centre (SOC).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, including working under pressure.
• Discretion when handling confidential and private information.
• Ability to pass a security clearance and hold a RAIC
• Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
• Flexible availability including weekends and overnight shifts, schedule of 06:00-18:00/18:00-06:00
• Must be at least 19 years of age and have a high school diploma.
• Must have reliable transportation to the airport.
• Must have a valid Driver's License with minimum 3 years of driving experience.
• Must have valid First Aid & CPR certificate (Online First Aid/CPR certificate not accepted)

Pay Classification

$21.82/Hour
