The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Technical Leader, Strategy to join our Strategy team.
This is a permanent position located in Toronto, ON
As part of a fast paced Strategy team that is accountable for Corporate Planning, Corporate Development, and Investor Relations, this role will: (1) support critical parts of the strategy, strategic planning cycle, and corporate model, (2) act as a Project Manager on cross-functional initiatives, (3) lead and structure critical business analysis required to support the team and the Vale Base Metals leadership team, and/or (4) provide any other support to execute upon the team's accountabilities
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Support the Vale Base Metals strategic planning cycle
- Participate in development of Vale Base Metals' strategy and ensure consistent narrative is cascaded
- Support strategic and technical rational for key business decisions including detailed option analysis
- Develop, maintain and evaluate appropriate models (activity based costing, NPV by value chain, etc.)
- Develop and communicate long-term business goals and targets
- Identify and execute on corporate development opportunities and participate on due diligence teams
- Consider opportunities in existing as well as new businesses (i.e. commodities and regions)
- Develop competitive intelligence and provide an external perspective on operations
- Support the construction of internal and external strategy presentations

- Working as a team with willingness to execute on what is required to complete a task together
- Co-develop the Strategy, Corporate Development, and Investor Relations team; take the time to teach and/or learn from colleagues to improve the skill set of the team
- Work with cross functional groups throughout the organization to achieve critical business tasks
- Work with urgency to evaluate opportunities in a timely manner in the development of VBM's priorities
About You
Education:
- An undergraduate degree in Finance or Technical/Engineering
- P.Eng/MBA/CFA preferred
Experience:
- A minimum of 8 – 10 years' relevant experience
Skills:
- Knowledge of Metals Markets (pricing, attractiveness, major players, etc.)
- Technical knowledge of mining and processing (ability to challenge technical teams on their assessment)
- Business & financial leadership, including extensive business analysis capabilities
- Communication skills to manage cross-functional teams and build presentations.
