We are seeking a dynamic Business Architect to help us achieve our Net Zero goals. As a Business Architect, you will play a pivotal role in aligning business strategy with technology and process solutions. You'll dive into requirements gathering, lead process improvement initiatives, document solution blueprints, and work closely with our internal team-including Analytics, Application, Security, and Infrastructure-as well as third-party vendors. Your work will directly contribute to helping Saint John Energy achieve its vision and ensuring quality, leading to better value outcomes on projects.
As well as other process improvement and technology modernization initiatives, you will be actively involved in our Digital DSO initiative, a critical project focused on modernizing grid management by integrating Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) with SJE's data systems, using AI to optimize grid performance and manage Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). You'll also be a key part of the team executing on the outcomes of the Zero30 roadmap, helping drive strategic initiatives that support our path to decarbonization and energy efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles of Saint John Energy
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and document business needs, translating them into actionable requirements.
- Lead initiatives to refine and optimize business processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Design and document end-to-end solutions, incorporation system integrations, data flows, and infrastructure considerations.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies or platforms to meet business needs while considering scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
- Work alongside internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless solution implementation.
- Collaborate closely with Saint John Energy's Business Analysts (BAs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Project Managers (PMs) to drive successful project delivery.
- Ensure solution and requirements quality/standards, leading to better outcomes on projects.
- Ensure business strategies are effectively translated into technology and process roadmaps.
- Update and maintain architecture standards and best practices.
- Assess the impact of proposed changes on existing systems, processes, and data flows.
- Drive change initiatives necessary to achieve Saint John Energy's Net Zero goals and the Zero30 roadmap outcomes.
Working Conditions:
- 40 Hours per week (flexible working arrangements available on mutual agreement after six months).
- Inside office environment.
- Sitting and standing for moderate periods.
Employment Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Software Engineering) or equivalent practical experience
- Proven experience in business or solution architecture roles with a combination of business knowledge and technical expertise is crucial
- Strong skills in requirements analysis, process improvement, and solution documentation.
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and managing vendor relationships.
- Familiarity with cloud services, system integration methodologies, and data management principles, and end-user experience, particularly in modern workplace solutions using the Microsoft stack, is important.
- Certification or formal training in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) is required. Additional certifications in Business Analysis and relevant technology domains would be considered an asset.
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills for executive-level communication.
- Ability to model and document business processes and system architecture
- Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.
- Familiarity with energy systems, AMI, DERMS, or related technologies (preferred but not required).
- Knowledge of Utilities & sustainability requirements would be an asset
- Understanding of project management methodologies, including agile
