Position: Scheduling Coordinator
Department: Nursing
Responsible To: Director of Resident Care
Position Summary: Coordinates the scheduling function within the nursing department. Responsible for the payroll function and records control for all nursing department employees. Independent judgment is exercised in the resolution of scheduling and administrative problems. The mission, vision and values of the Home provide the direction for the provision of nursing services.

Responsibilities:
- Prepares staffing schedules for all members of the nursing department. Ensures 24 hour coverage in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Responds to staff requests for vacation/stat. holidays and schedules same including replacement staff.
- Maintains accurate records on attendance including regular schedule, vacation, statutory holidays and sick time.
- Calculates staff annual benefits and communicates same according to contractual obligations.
- Participates in interview of job applicants and conducts reference checks.
- Participated in employee orientation ensuring timely return and processing of all new hire paperwork.
- Assists in maintaining employee personnel files.
- Prepares the resident clinical record for final filing.
- Manages supply ordering and inventory control for the nursing department.
- Provides additional administrative support as required by the nursing team.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from Grade X11 and Secretarial Arts or Business College an asset.
- Two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated Computer Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office.
- Previous Payroll experience an asset.
Other Requirements:
- Good general health which allows for the ability to attend work on a regular basis and meet the physical demands of the position.
- Must have a good attendance record.
- Good personal hygiene.
- Personal police record check clearance and negative Vulnerable Sector Check.

- Knowledge of Labor Standards Guidelines.
- Ability to work independently, requiring minimum supervision.
- Ability to cope with change and fluctuating work demands.

Continuing Education Responsibilities:
- Attends in-services and educational and training sessions for self development.
- Attends compulsory fire safety and WHMIS training as required.
- Attends and participates in departmental staff meetings.
