Job Description Summary

Plans, designs and develops clear, engaging, compelling learning and performance-focused solutions that enhance retention and knowledge transfer within TD's Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) program. Applies design expertise to create learning, performance-focused solutions and creative strategies that achieve visible and measurable improvements to individual and group performance, development, and/or productivity and business results.

Provides support on a variety of projects, initiatives and platforms to support execution or training strategies for the FCRM department. Supports the development and maintenance of TD's FCRM Training program. Oversee the timely delivery of training initiatives that align with expected outcomes and expectations.

Job Description

CUSTOMER

  • Develops project plans to facilitate the design and development of FCRM learning programs to address specific training needs.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert as it relates to instructional design and adult learning theory
  • Defines learning objectives, describes tasks and activities, estimates the resource requirements, and creates detailed design structure.
  • Act as a liaison with partners and external groups and provide FCRM Training subject matter expertise related to the design and development of training programs
  • Proven project management skills to deliver learning projects within agreed upon timelines
  • Lead and develop FCRM Training programs in coordination with management in line with TD's FCRM Program
  • Writes, storyboards, and edits learning and performance support interventions.
  • Ensures learning solutions are instructionally sound, and developed on time, within scope and budget.

SHAREHOLDER

  • Partner, as necessary, effectively with key stakeholder groups such as Compliance, Legal, Audit, Risk, Enterprise Learning and Development
  • Ensure respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meet function needs, comply with internal/ external requirements and align with function priorities
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues, where appropriate
  • Work closely with management team to support the development of FCRM Training programs ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD's operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale
  • Integrate new systems and upgrades into function operations, as needed
  • Ensure employees are building and enhancing their FCRM knowledge and expertise; and employees assume responsibility in minimizing operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank policy and Code of Conduct
  • Monitor and communicate to Senior Management, the effectiveness of strategies, programs, and practices related to own area of expertise
  • Set the standards for operations and manageability across the function ensuring services are built from the ground up
  • Proactively identify key business opportunities, research and recommend enhancements / modifications, develop strategies to achieve recommendations
  • Ensure department operates in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional / enterprise initiatives as an organizational or subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

EMPLOYEE / TEAM

  • Responsible for management of the overall design and development of FCRM training programs providing both leadership and guidance
  • Contribute to the development of FCRM Training strategic priorities aligned with annual Training Plans
  • Manages annual training and/or long-term learning design projects
  • Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for Training and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit
  • Grow team expertise to align with FCRM/enterprise demand and direction; contribute to enhancing team skills and capabilities related to Training design and development and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered
  • Create and foster a cohesive team and promote a positive work environment.
  • Share knowledge, information, skills, and subject matter expertise among the team and ensure the timely communication of issues and encourage good working relationships with other functions and teams
  • Escalate business challenges; facilitate change through positive mindset
  • Establish and foster a cohesive team; and contribute to the achievement common goals and objectives
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the function and the bank, both internally and/or externally
  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of learning solutions
  • Keep abreast of training industry developments, including new technology solutions and trends and best practices

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Ensure an integrated approach with other business management areas, broader organization, and enterprise as appropriate
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of businesses / technology, and organizational practices/ disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of training tools, adult learning theory; keeps up-to-date with industry trends and emerging training tools
  • Focus on short to medium-term issues
  • Generally, reports to a Senior Manager

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate Degree, professional accreditation, and/or 5+ years relevant experience with Learning & Development
  • Adult Learning accreditation is preferred
  • Knowledge of accessibility principles/practices and implications for design and development
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, technology-enabled design and learning methods
  • Experience in the design and development of training for multiple delivery methods
  • Strong Knowledge/proficiency of web development processes and familiarity with authoring tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, Storyline, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, development and editing skills to ensure consistency and quality in training materials and for various audiences
  • Knowledge of accessibility principles and practices for training design and development
  • Proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Financial Services industry experience is considered an asset
