Job Description:
In your role as a Desk Appraiser, you will be responsible for supporting field teams through various activities; primarily, completing desk appraisals for risks based upon information supplied from customers or field teams. The role will also be responsible for limited client, stakeholder or other interactions where needed to support appraisal teams. This role will also take on initiatives aimed at providing personal growth opportunities, while supporting overall department goals.Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct desk insurance appraisals of homes of various risk and adhere to agreed upon timelines and loss control measures
- Obtain photos of the risk, interview clients, complete estimates and Appraisal reports to establish adequate coverage amounts, identify potential additional coverage needs, documentation and photographs of materials, finishes and unique characteristics, to simplify the claims process
- Scheduling appraisal appointments with clients based on priority and appraiser availability while effectively managing their days
- Ensuring Appraisers keep on track in achieving monthly targets by adjusting appointments accordingly
- Assign Appraisers to specific properties according to geographic location and managing efficient workload
- Undertaking file assignment based off appraiser's authority limit and current case load
- Contribute to the legendary customer experience by collaborating with internal and external partners while valuing speed and accuracy
- Manage customer relationships, promoting the TD brand by acting as the face of the company during appraisals. Analyze and resolve disputes related to customer complaints, replacement cost and risk engineering, etc. for own reports
- Quality control reviews of appraisal reports from internal staff as well as vendor companies
- Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate
- Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary
- Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development / delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience
- Contribute reporting and / or meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices
- May lead work streams by acting as a project lead / subject matter expert for small scale projects / initiatives in accordance with project management methodologies
- Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
- Professional role with a focus on providing functional specialized business services, advisory or process / program support for own area of specialty, within defined parameters
- Requires sound conceptual knowledge in their own field of specialty
- May lead small projects and / or support work streams of a bigger project
- Investigates and analyzes potential solutions; ensures processes and functional programs are implemented
- Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent experience required
- Experience in estimating and/or valuation an asset
- Architectural, construction, inspection, appraisal, high value real estate, risk management or similar backgrounds are considered an asset.
- CRM/CIP considered an asset
