Applications are being accepted for the Permanent position of Manager of Long Term Care & Transitional Care Services with Western Health. Reporting to the Regional Director of Long Term Care, the Manager of Long Term Care & Transitional Care will be accountable for providing leadership in planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating program activities. This position will manage assigned units in Corner Brook, including Transitional Beds to support appropriate patient flow from acute care to home. The manager may be required to cover other areas.

QUALIFICATIONS: A baccalaureate degree in a health care related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working within a health care discipline and registration through a provincial regulatory body are required. Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with older adults. A minimum of two (2) years’ management experience or four (4) years’ of leadership experience within the last five (5) years is also required. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential, and demonstrated effective leadership is required.

In the event no suitable candidate is found with the above noted qualifications, consideration may be given to applicants who do not currently possess a Bachelor’s Degree, provided they are willing to complete same within five years of appointment to the position. In this case, the successful applicant must be prepared to demonstrate proof of registration/enrollment to an appropriate degree program within the first year of appointment to the position. Furthermore, the successful applicant is required to provide annual updates based on the progress of each semester of the program.
