The Cancer Care Program of NL Health Services has a provincial mandate to deliver cancer care to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Cancer Care Program operates.
the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre in St. John's and regional cancer centres in Corner Brook, Gander and Grand Falls.
The Opportunity
The future workforce for qualified Medical Physicists in Newfoundland and Labrador is growing in the tertiary centre in St. John's and a new centre opened in Corner Brook in
2024. The Medical Physicist will be responsible for the professional support for clinical services such as radiation safety, treatment planning, calibration of therapy machines
and quality assurance. Candidates will be expected to participate in selecting, acceptance testing and commissioning of new radiation therapy equipment, and will have the
opportunity to participate in the development and implementation of new technologies or techniques.
Permanent Full Time Employment as a Medical Physicist upon completion of Medical Physics Residency
Up to $20,000 bursary funding for current Medical Physics Residents with a return-in-service commitment

Prerequisite Requirements
" Successful completion of an accredited MSc or PhD in Medical Physics
" Currently enrolled in an accredited Medical Physics Residency Program
" Eligible for Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (MCCPM) is required (eligible for Certification as a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or of the American Board of Medical Physics is considered equivalent)
" Demonstrated strong commitment to high clinical standards
" Demonstrated strong interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills
" Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interdisciplinary team
" A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required
Financial Assistance
Financial assistance up to $20,000 bursary funding for current Medical Physics Residents. A return-in-service agreement in Cancer Care will be required, and the length of
the return-in-service will depend on the total amount of funding provided.
If the prerequisite requirements are met, applicants will be assessed for financial support based on a combination of screening criteria such as academic grades and interview(s).
