As part of the Nepisiguit Falls Generating Station's Operations team, the Plant Operator (Shift) is responsible for the safe operation of all hydro generating units and auxiliary equipment, in order to maintain the efficient production and continuous flow of electricity to meet system operating requirements during normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.
Key functions include:
- Provide safe working conditions by administering standard procedures and continuously promoting plant safety work practices.
- Operate, maintain, and routinely inspect various components that make up the Nepisiguit Falls Generating Station which includes maintaining river control, head pond level and river flows in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Create and maintain all procedures related to the operation of all systems and equipment for the Nepisiguit Falls Generating Station.
Our ideal teammate will have one of the following:
- Power Engineering Technology Diploma with a Forth Class Power Engineer Licence
- Construction Electrician CQ
- Industrial Electrician CQ
- Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) CQ
- Industrial Instrument Technician
Along with:
- Class 5 Driver's License in good standing
- Preference will be given to those with industrial work experience
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
