What you'll do

As a Training Specialist, you will evaluate the training needs for operational business, support the design of a new, engaging and blended learning experience, lead instructional design for both new and existing curriculums and develop a learning experience to meet the organization's online learning standards.

You will work in close collaboration with the Subject Matter Experts and other team members to ensure quality training is efficiently designed and developed in a timely manner. Our dynamic business environment also requires curriculums to be maintained with the most recent operating procedures, business processes and product details.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum & Instructional Design:
    • Review current curriculums and recommend strategies to transform training from lecture-centric to a learner-centric approaches using modern instructional methodologies and technologies.
    • Apply a range of instructional methods (eLearning, microlearning, instructor-led, collaborative, and blended) based on a solid understanding of instructional design theories and best practices.
  • Learning Experience Design:
    • Develop high-level curriculum designs (blueprints) for blended learning solutions that meet client requirements and provide clear instructions for internal designers and developers.
    • Design storyboards to organize and visualize training content, ensuring a logical progression of topics throughout the curriculum.
  • Project & Stakeholder Management:
    • Collaborate with SMEs throughout the development lifecycle, educating them on Learning & Development (L&D) processes, setting expectations, and coordinating schedules and reviews for deliverables.
    • Manage timelines, scope, and quality across multiple workstreams.
    • Apply agile methodologies to adapt to evolving project priorities and maintain efficiency.

Qualifications

Education: Post-Secondary degree in educational technology and curriculum

Experience:

  • 5-8 years equivalent experience curriculum design and development
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and/or Medavie business processes is a strong asset

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Self-starter with a proactive work ethic
  • Strong foundation in instructional design models, theories, and best practices.
  • Experience with the ADDIE framework (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to create high-level learning program designs.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, prioritization, and project management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues at all levels.
  • A commitment to lifelong learning, including knowledge of claims systems, LMS, products, processes, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to write clear and engaging instructional materials and scripts for multimedia content.

Preferred Skills (Assets)

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Familiarity with eLearning authoring tools, (e.g. Adobe Captivate)
  • Bilingualism (English & French)
