The Senior Manager, Global 2nd Line TPRM Canadian Banking contributes to the overall success of the Global Third-Party Risk Management Program ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. The incumbent is accountable for ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures through the execution of the centralized effective challenge function. The incumbent is also responsible for championing general program engagement and awareness bringing the policies and standards to life across Canadian Banking and other business lines as per TPRM strategy.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Conducts effective challenge and oversight activities across the Global TPRM program; specifically:
  • Champion the maintenance TPRM effective challenge procedures; Quality Control, GRM risk review and NIRA
  • Facilitates regular meetings with key stakeholder groups to support efficient program operation and development, as appropriate. Establishes and nurtures relationships with all partners.
  • Proactively identifies emerging risks to avoid potential issues, dedicated to supporting businesses' key third-party priorities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; is curious and seeks to learn and understand. Identifies challenges and pain points and raise them for resolution with urgency and follow through.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 6+ years proven risk management experience in Financial Services industry
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Finance; MBA or other Graduate Program in related discipline would be an asset.
  • Advanced understanding of the regulatory landscape with respect to third party risk.
  • Experience in leading dynamic and multifaceted projects.
  • Strategic thinking and strategic influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate with senior/executive management.
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of pertinent business areas
  • Sound judgment, learning agility, and a high level of professional and personal integrity
  • Supports Scotiabank at the Enterprise level across International Banking
  • Working knowledge of regulations related to third party relationships in the financial services industry
  • Strong inter-personal skills as well as both verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with senior management; excellent attention to detail
  • Working proficiency in Spanish is required
  • Sound judgment, learning agility, time/project management, and a high level of professional and personal integrity
  • Systems used: Coupa Risk Assess, Icertis system, Microsoft Office, GIMS, and NIRA system
