The Associate contributes to the overall success of the Private Wealth Departments ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in the client service side of investment management at an established and growing global investment manager. The role is to support the functional areas of Private Client Services and contribute to the overall success of the Portfolio Management team.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader firm's relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Prepare and coordinate account opening and client profile update documents.
  • Model, rebalance and generate transactions for portfolio managers to review.
  • Verify the impact of Portfolio transactions before they are executed.
  • Liaise with internal equity and fixed income traders.
  • Review client investment policies.
  • Provide analytical support for sales and marketing activities.
  • Prepare presentations to clients and prospects as requested by portfolio managers.
  • Prepare and verify compliance reports.
  • Analyze the performance of investments.
  • Customize monthly and quarterly reports for clients.
  • Possibility in the medium term to assume additional responsibilities in a more direct relationship with customers.
  • Understand how JFL's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with the firm's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor in Finance or Business or another related field.
  • Willingness to enroll in the CFA program and/or the CIM designation and/or the AAR
  • 1 to 3 years of work experience in a similar role.

  • Bilingual, French and English. Pursuant to a language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English to French because they will be required to work closely with other groups from head office who operate primarily in English, and they will serve English-speaking clientele frequently
