As part of the Provincial Field Engineering team, the Project Engineering Assistant is accountable for the effectiveness of day-to-day engineering to meet regional engineering priorities by providing technical advice and support to Power Line Designers, as well as overseeing and coordinating engineering projects, and providing technical engineering services.

Key functions include:
• Provide technical advice, formal instruction and training to Power Line Designers on the distribution electrical system, effectively resolve escalated customer inquiries and liaise with outside agencies, engineering consulting firms, field personnel and distribution system operations.
• Perform all activities related to the coordination and oversight of engineering projects to ensure cost effectiveness and sound engineering to maintain system readiness and reliability. This position is also responsible to ensure standard and joint agreements are adhered to.
• Provide technical engineering services to the engineering team including special structure design, computer-aided drawing, power quality analysis and the preparation of switching schedules involving multiple steps using various computer-based software (CYME, Stakeout, MS Project, Excel).
• Provide support during storm events assuming the role of Restoration Coordinator (or similar) and will aid in the preparation of work permit documentation.

The ideal teammate will have one of the following:
• BSc Electrical Engineering
• BSc Power Engineering
• Diploma Technology Electrical Engineering
• Diploma Technology Engineering Civil

Combined with:
• Two years of experience in electrical theory, designing, constructing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical circuits
• Two years of experience effectively dealing with customer inquiries and disputes
• Experience with computer-based software, (CYME, Stakeout, MS Project and Excel)
• Valid Class 5 driver's license

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
