The Opportunity

Our team is looking for a customer-centric and seasoned individual who will support the attainment of our corporate goals by playing a critical role in the intake of our digital initiatives, connecting the dots between strategy and execution.

As Manager, IT Demand Management you will leverage your portfolio management expertise, strong relationship management, resource planning and business experience to play a key role in the implementation of technology initiatives across the organization. Collaborating with all levels of business management and IT divisional leadership, you'll work closely with stakeholders to understand business and operational priorities, consolidate the overall IT project intake; and manage the backlog of IT initiatives across the organization. You will partner with peers and leaders to properly reflect project categorization in the overall IT portfolio, establish delivery roadmaps in alignment with expected priorities, financial budgets and resource capacity to line up predictable, high quality deliveries.

Managing a core team of IT professionals your opportunity will be to promote and mature the value of IT portfolio management through established governance, process, reporting, collaboration and communication to all levels of leadership throughout the organization. The major responsibility will be the management of the IT Intake process with business and IT disciplines, while playing a key role in the development of IT divisional planning and communication to our internal and external business stakeholders.
Along with experience in portfolio planning and governance, the successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to make sound business decisions while developing and maintaining long lasting partnerships with peers and internal/external stakeholders.

Preferred Location: Candidates residing in the Eastern or Atlantic time zones are preferred. The role can be remote.

Key responsibilities:

  • Represents an integral function of IT Enterprise planning responsible for managing the backlog for all technology initiatives. Works closely with all levels of IT and business leadership.
  • Manages the IT Demand Management process leveraging current practices to enable the effective gathering of overall portfolio demand to determine commitment and sequencing throughout the organization.
  • Collaborates closely with the Corporate Project Management Office and IT Leadership for the effective sequencing of projects in alignment with corporate priorities and available delivery capacity.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key Business Units stakeholders to understand business needs and priorities; and create insights related to the technology business demand. Interfaces with key Business and Finance stakeholders; and engages within the IT division as required to support business case activities.
  • Ensures effective communication to all levels of leadership of the demand, planning commitments and business value from technology investments. Supports the creation of portfolio reports for steering committees; and leads regular portfolio health reviews with key Business and IT stakeholders.
  • Acts as a central point of contact for the business to facilitate responses to RFPs, leveraging expertise within the IT division.
  • Facilitates the collaboration across IT disciplines such as enterprise architecture, enterprise business analysis, application and digital technology, release management and resource managers to evaluate projects and produce delivery estimates. Supports the creation and update of technology delivery roadmaps.
  • Manages a team including IT Planning Analysts and Enterprise Business Analysts.
  • Supports and provides input to IT budgeting and corporate planning activities.
  • Ensures adherence and matures portfolio management processes and standards, promoting a culture of Continuous Improvements to identify and implement further enhancements or efficiencies.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or related field and/or equivalent experience

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive IT experience in a Business or IT Delivery Management role involving complex technology implementations, including large transformational initiatives
  • Minimum of 7 years of people leadership experience (career management, hiring, performance management, coaching)
  • Strong portfolio management expertise (gating process, prioritization frameworks, demand/capacity management)
  • Strong understanding of financial and budget management principles as well as financial investment categories
  • Excellent and deep understanding of Business Analysis discipline (role, deliverables and standards)
  • Strong experience in contract management and procurement of technology products and/or services
  • Strong experience in RFP process
  • Solid experience presenting to and engaging with Senior Executives, with exceptional communication and influencing skills interacting with all leadership levels
  • Experience in Insurance and/or Health sector is an asset

Language: Bilingual (English/French) is an asset, English ( written & spoken required)

Security Clearance: Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B). This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
