Purpose
The Manager provides analytical expertise to support the development, validation, monitoring, reporting, and documentation of quantitative models that enhance the investment process. This role operates at the intersection of research, data science, finance, and technology. Strong communication skills are required to collaborate effectively with key partners and senior team members. A balance between technical and business knowledge will be key to success. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this position is responsible for conducting research, analyzing data to generate insights, and applying mathematical/statistical methods to improve investment decision-making, drive innovation, and support process automation.
Accountabilities
• Assist in the development and maintenance of quantitative investment frameworks to enhance investment decision-making and contribute to automation and optimization initiatives.
• Support process improvements by identifying and recommending enhancements to existing portfolio management tools and methodologies.
• Conduct data analysis and statistical modeling to support business decisions, ensuring accuracy and relevance of insights.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in quantitative analysis and share knowledge with the team.
• Contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of reports, models, and analytical tools.
• Support the assessment of model assumptions, data inputs, and performance metrics to ensure reliability and accuracy.
• Apply analytical skills to solve problems and provide recommendations on quantitative strategies.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to implement and refine quantitative models and analytical solutions.
• Ensures alignment between values and behavior that fosters diversity and inclusion.
• Ensure alignment with risk management policies and contribute to a risk-aware work environment.
• Foster a client-centric culture by supporting investment teams in leveraging data-driven insights to enhance decision making.
• Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience
• Robust quantitative skills acquired through education in one of the following areas: Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science & Engineering or Professional experience in the field.
• Familiarity with various modelling techniques – model development and validation; and Data preprocessing and visualization.
• Strong proficiency with Bloomberg, Excel, and/or statistical software (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB, SQL)
• Understanding of quantitative investment research methods in a bond, credit or equity role is an asset.
