Fundy Trail Provincial Park is one of New Brunswick's crown jewels. Spanning 2,559 hectares along the southern coast, the park features a stunning 30 km parkway with breathtaking views of the world-renowned Bay of Fundy. Open seasonally from mid-May to mid-October, it offers visitors an unforgettable chance to connect with nature and history.

Fundy Trail Provincial Park is seeking a dedicated and proactive Security Officer Supervisor to join our team. This position is essential to ensuring the safety and security of park visitors, staff, and assets while overseeing patrol and camping operations, enforcing park policies, and managing the security team. This role will also support our collaborative efforts with local law enforcement, Conservation Officers, and emergency services to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

What you will do

Reporting to the Fundy Trail Provincial Park Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Supervising and managing staff by enhancing security programs, interviewing, and hiring the security team
  • Training staff on safety and operational procedures, including emergency response, crowd control and first aid
  • Patrolling and overseeing security operations by conducting surveillance patrols on foot, by car, and by bicycle to prevent fire, theft, disturbances and vandalism
  • Locking gates, buildings, and vehicles; setting alarms as necessary, monitoring security cameras and coordinating with law enforcement and emergency services as needed
  • Handling kiosk operations for staff east and staff west kiosks at designated posts, providing park information to visitors and communicating between kiosks via radio to monitor park traffic
  • Taking care of park after-hours responsibilities such as monitoring and recording unattended park vehicles, parking passes, documenting vehicle details and transporting deposit cash floats
  • Complying with health and safety rules such as promoting and enforcing protocols and maintaining a safe, clean and organized work environment
  • Conducting administrative duties such as tracking and recording visitor statistics and staff performance data, as well as managing timesheets and preparing end-of-season reports
  • Active contribution as a member of committees, such as the Workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee

Work Environment

  • Working up to 40 hours per week
  • Please note that this position requires variable and extended hours - shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Uniform provided

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience with a minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license issued by the Province of New Brunswick
  • Valid Emergency First Aid/CPR certification
  • WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of the Parks NB Online Systems (Lightspeed, CAMIS, and Global Payment Systems)
  • Completion of a recognized Security training program

Wage

$25.44 per hour
