Who we are
We invite you to join the Strategic Marketing branch with the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture. We promote New Brunswick to potential travellers in key target markets across Canada, the United States, and Europe. Our team does this by developing a recognizable brand and using an integrated marketing approach to promote New Brunswick tourism experiences via owned, earned, and paid media tactics. This includes digital and print media, direct-to-consumer outreach, influencer campaigns, brand activations, Explore NB Street Team program and other strategic initiatives.
What does the Explore NB Street Team do?
The Explore NB Street Team travels throughout the province of New Brunswick in the Explore NB Cruiser to various events, festivals, and communities for 12 weeks promoting brand awareness, local NB products, and providing road trip ideas. The Team will communicate by phone with events/festival organizers, accommodations, provincial park managers, etc., to discuss dates and requirements of the activation/event. The team also works closely with the social media team, creating content, reels, stories and posts to help grow the brand awareness of the Explore NB Street Team. The Explore NB Street Team represents the ¿host with the most;¿ the ideal New Brunswicker: friendly, social, and neighbourly with a welcoming demeanor. What will you do
The Explore NB Street Team is expected to accomplish the following tasks:
- Exploring the province by visiting major attractions, festivals, and events, provincial parks, and communities to promote New Brunswick and elevate brand awareness
- Driving the Explore NB Cruiser and following Vehicle Management guidelines for the vehicle, keeping it fueled and cleaned
- Tracking and recording kilometers and reporting any issues or damages
- Setting up/tearing down furniture and equipment at various locations
- Distributing promotional materials and items to visitors as deemed appropriate (from maps to caps)
- Keeping track of distribution of promotional materials and items
- Interacting with residents and visitors and offering them fun things to see and do in NB
- Tracking inventory of materials and promotional items weekly
- Encouraging people to sign up to our newsletters
- Communicating with tourism industry leaders and municipalities throughout the province
- Preparing and submitting travel expenses, receipts, and timesheets based on Provincial Government policies
- Using judgment, critical thinking, and people skills
- Performing other tasks as required
Work Environment
- All over New Brunswick
- Home base: Marysville Place, 20 McGloin St., Fredericton
- This position will require working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
*Please note this position requires significant travel throughout New Brunswick, as well as work outside of regular work hours. Standard hours of work may be altered to accommodate these requirements*
Who you are
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have
- University or college student with a minimum of one year completed, and who will be returning to school in the fall
- Resident of New Brunswick
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Strong competencies with Microsoft Office
- Experience with social media marketing
- Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
- Team player and creative thinker
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capabilities.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of NB products, artists, and experiences
- Experience in customer service or hospitality
- Experience with events
Wage
$19.00 per hour
