Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is offering a challenging and exciting opportunity to join our team. Working in a creative, fast-paced environment, you'll be part of transforming the future of the province's energy sector. Our long term plan includes an ambitious capital program to rebuild, renew and replace portions of our installed asset base.
This leadership position is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the implementation and adherence to high-quality standards across major electric utility construction projects. The incumbent will be part of Hydro's Major Projects team, aiding in the development of a quality management program and ensuring it meets Hydro's requirements throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a strong understanding of quality management principles as well as project management norms for large scale utility projects.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
The successful candidate will be required to lead and coordinate a team working within a matrix organization. The incumbent will aid in ensuring that major projects are executed with the proper level of quality control and assurance from an owner's team's perspective with interfaces with external contractors and consultants. General responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
- The strategic planning, development, implementation and adherence to a quality program across major electric utility projects for engineering, supply and construction works.
- Establishing an effective project organization within the Major Projects department by identifying necessary quality resources to support the department's initiatives.
- Lead and manage the development and implementation of the quality management strategy for major projects.
- Manage and set standards for document control within the Major Projects Department, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee the quality management of major electric utility projects from an owners perspective, ensuring that all activities are completed according to best practices and that proper measures are in place to ensure successful completions and proper turnover to operations of assets.
Qualifications:
To excel in this position you will need to bring the following:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in management for large-scale engineering and construction projects, with a focus on electric utility infrastructure.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field and/or Quality Designation is preferred.
- Direct experience with quality management, completion management and project management.
- This position requires a high level of initiative, judgement, and collaboration with Project Managers, Engineers, and construction teams.
- Familiarity with project management systems and controls or professional certification (ISO, PMP, etc.) would be considered an asset.
