Jump Recruitment is seeking a dynamic, highly skilled, and innovative Fleet Technical Manager for our client, Ocean Choice International, based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. This will be a full-time permanent role that is part of the Atlantic Fleet Operations Group and involves close collaboration with Operations Managers across Ocean Choice's offshore fishing vessels.

Responsibilities include:
- Working with the vessel Operation Managers, provide oversight and approval of maintenance work during port days between fishing trips.
- Prepare and develop capital budgets for annual maintenance and scheduled refits for vessels with the Senior Engineer/Manager of Capital Projects.
- Coordinate electrical and refrigeration support staff who report to the Senior Engineer/Manager of Capital Projects for each vessel.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- Liaison with regulatory authorities as required.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance strategies to minimize downtime during turnarounds; and work with the operations group to further implement and improve the preventative maintenance program.
- Work with the operations group to develop effective landing plans, including the coordination and supervision of contractors working on the vessels.
- Oversight and familiarity with spares in the company's storage facilities to ensure inventory levels are appropriately maintained; and assist the Purchasing Department with technical information regarding orders.
- Assist with the ongoing development of the International Safety Management code as it pertains to the technical aspects of the code.
- Ability to prioritize, estimate and manage work schedules for contractors, engineering and maintenance staff.
- Promote a safe, courteous atmosphere and strive to make improvements in a professional manner.
- Effective team player with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment; and willingness to step in and do hands-on work when required.
- Ability to travel, as work may be assigned outside the Atlantic Fleet Operations.
Qualifications:
- Recognized Certified of Training in the marine or mechanical field.
- Extensive knowledge of Factory Freezer Trawler (FFT) operations, including:
- Ammonia refrigeration systems
- Factory automation, equipment and processes
- Propulsion plant, electrical and fishing equipment systems (e.g., winches, etc.)
- Safety equipment, and hotel systems.
- Experience with preventative maintenance software, in particular MxSuite.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and other computer applications.
- Strong understanding of regulatory inspections from TCMS and Class Society.
- Knowledge of safe working regulations in a marine environment.
- Ability to effectively manage sub-contractors.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
