As part of the Protection and Control (P&C) Engineering team, the Engineer I-IV is responsible to design, program, commission, and maintain P&C Systems. In addition to these contributions, the position will be required to provide technical support to field staff such as the P&C Technicians and to the NB Transmission System Operator when required.
Key functions include:
- Design protection and control schemes utilizing NB Power's standard designs and other industry recognized standards. Review manufacturer and contractor designs to ensure NB Power's P&C requirements. Make any recommendations for changes to meet NB Power's needs.
- Provide technical support to the P&C Technicians and other field resources during installation and commissioning of P&C equipment.
- Evaluate equipment and materials from various manufacturers to verify they meet the requirements for NB Power.
Our ideal teammate will have:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Basic proficiency level Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook)
- Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer or Member in Training in the Province of New Brunswick (APEGNB)
- Prior experience in protection and control, relaying, power systems analysis will be considered as an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
Due to security requirements of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, the successful candidates will be required to arrange a Criminal Record name check through the RCMP or their local municipal police service and provide the results to NB Power.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
