Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Global Compliance Testing Center of Excellence (GTCE) globally in ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen stakeholder relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Performs reviews and oversees a consistent approach to compliance testing program.
- Performs oversight role regarding effectiveness of Compliance Testing pillar by preparing analysis to evaluate the execution of standards, processes and best practices of Compliance Testers globally.
- Is an integral part of the GTCE Quality Control Program by drafting and revising adherence to Testing Procedures, related QC Scripts and supporting guidance documents; to ensure consistency and alignment to the Global Compliance Governance Document Standard.
- Provides guidance on development/ maintenance (including exceptions) of Testing Program's frameworks, Procedures, and best practices by leveraging Business Intelligence reports.
- Create Quality Control Review Guides and Quality Control Scripts.
- Supports the Senior Manager in the creation of oversight reports and presentations for executive management.
- Support the GTCE's success on new initiatives/ projects and work proactively with the Compliance Transformation team to ensure successful delivery of oversight related projects.
- Assist with the delivery of training workshops on Compliance testing to ensure that testing teams have the required skills to effectively execute the Compliance Testing Plan.
- Display strong understanding of Compliance Testing program and alignment to the Compliance Risk Management framework.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Coordinate and lead the Global Compliance Testing Centre of Excellence quarterly newsletter, monthly check ups and communication strategy.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a Business, Finance, Audit, or relevant Social Science (e.g. Economics)
- Recommended to have 3-5 years of experience in an assurance role in either risk management, regulatory compliance, audit or control functions. Not a requirement for outstanding candidates.
